Scottish Parliament Procedures Committee Tuesday 20 June 2000 (Morning)

[The Convener opened the meeting at 10:00]

Welcome to the 8th meeting of the Procedures Committee. I begin by introducing to committee members Mark MacPherson, who is now our senior assistant clerk in place of William Venters. Mark has been with other committees in the Parliament and members may have come across him before.

Since the last meeting, our clerk, John Patterson, has been married. [Applause.] Members might notice a mellowing in his disposition as a consequence.

John Patterson and Tommy Sheridan have both got married—what a coincidence.

I do not think that it was a double header. Neither do I know whether John is going to Cuba on his honeymoon.
