Items in Private
Good morning, everybody. I open this meeting of the Justice 2 Sub-Committee, which is considering child sex offenders in the context of the justice system. Agenda item 1 invites members to take items 2 and 3 in private and to decide whether to consider in private at subsequent meetings the main themes that arise from the evidence that is received for our inquiry.
For the record, I say that I am asking the committee to go into private for items 2 and 3 because they will involve discussing individuals in relation to appointing an adviser and possible witnesses to invite. It is custom and practice to go into private to discuss such items. If we are to have any opportunity following evidence sessions to discuss some of the evidence that we hear, it would help to do so in private. Such discussions will help with the preparation of our draft report.
Do members agree to take those discussions in private?
Members indicated agreement.
That completes the business for the public session. I ask the public, the media and the official report to leave the meeting.
Meeting continued in private until 10:37.
