Welfare of Animals at the Time of Killing (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2015 (SSI 2015/161)

Common Agricultural Policy Non-IACS Support Schemes (Appeals) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2015 (SSI 2015/167)

The Convener (Rob Gibson)

Good morning and welcome to the 17th meeting in 2015 of the Rural Affairs, Climate Change and Environment Committee. We have received apologies from Dave Thompson MSP and Michael Russell MSP. I welcome Christian Allard MSP to the meeting.

Agenda item 1 is subordinate legislation. We are invited to consider two instruments that are subject to negative procedure. I refer members to the paper. Do members have comments?

Members: No.

The Convener

In relation to the first instrument, I suppose that it would be interesting to know how many water buffalo there are in Scotland. Maybe the agricultural census will tell us that.

Members have no comments, so does the committee agree to make no recommendations on the instruments?

Members indicated agreement.

The Convener

Our next meeting is on 20 May, when we will consider a draft letter on the committee’s annual report. We hope also to take evidence from the chair and chief executive of First Milk. We will also consider a second draft, if required, of our letter to the Scottish Government on mandatory public sector climate reporting.

10:01 Meeting continued in private until 10:40.
