The first item of business is the choosing of a deputy convener for the committee. Members might be aware that, on a motion from the bureau, and having regard to the political balance of the Parliament, it has been agreed that the party whose members are eligible to be deputy convener is the SNP. I invite nominations from eligible members for the position of deputy convener.
I nominate my colleague, Tricia Marwick.
I assumed that you were not nominating yourself.
I would be happy to second that.
The clerks have advised me that the decision can be taken in Tricia's absence. The decision can be made by acclamation or by election. Is the committee agreed that it should be by acclamation?
Are we agreed that Tricia Marwick be chosen as deputy convener of the Standards Committee?
Tricia Marwick was elected deputy convener by acclamation.
