Nurse Agencies (Increase of Licence Fees) (Scotland) Regulations 2001 (SSI 2001/216)

The Convener:

The instrument increases fees, and there has been a breach of the 21-day rule. I am not averse to increases in fees, if a service is provided in the best interests of the public. However, clarification on how the figures are arrived at would be useful. For example, are they based on an audit of what it costs to process licences? Ensuring that licences are properly scrutinised is in the public interest.

Especially as the increases are several thousand per cent. There may be an explanation, but we cannot go from £4.20 to £175 without being proffered one, especially as there was a 33-year period without any rise at all.
