Decision on Taking Business in Private
I welcome members, witnesses and members of the public to the meeting. I also welcome Jan Polley, the committee's budget adviser, who is here for a later agenda item. I remind everyone to switch off mobile phones and pagers.
The main purpose of the meeting is to take evidence as part of the 2009-10 budget process. I see that we are still one or two witnesses short—so far, no apologies have been received.
Agenda item 1 is consideration of whether to discuss in private item 7, which is the legal advice on the Crown Estate. Taking that item in private would be in accordance with our standard procedure for dealing with legal advice. After the private discussion takes place, the issue will reappear on the agenda for consideration in public at a future meeting. Do members agree to take item 7 in private?
Members indicated agreement.
