Scottish Parliament Enterprise and Culture Committee Tuesday 2 November 2004

[The Convener opened the meeting at 14:04]

The Convener (Alex Neil):

Welcome to this meeting of the Enterprise and Culture Committee. I apologise for the delay in starting, which was due to a technical hitch with our broadcasting service. I ask all members and members of the public to turn off their mobile phones. As I know from bitter experience—I am thinking of last week's meeting—even if the phones are on silent, they can cause a problem with the sound system.

I welcome Fiona Hyslop to the committee. She is sitting in on our meeting, as every member of the Parliament is entitled to do. I ask her to declare any interests that she might have.

My husband is a lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University and works at the University of Glasgow on wider access issues.
