1. Choice of Convener:

The Committee chose Daniel Johnson as its new Convener.


2. Declaration of interests:

Stephen Kerr declared an interest as having previously worked as a self-employed consultant for Invicta Public Affairs Limited, a self-employed consultant for the Institute of Sales Professionals, a self-employed consultant for Results Based Leadership Ltd, and a self-employed independent assessor for the Faculty of Professional and Social Sciences at Middlesex University. He also indicated that he is a fellow of the Institute of Sales Professionals.


3. Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take item 5 in private at this meeting and to consider its draft Stage 1 report on the Community Wealth Building (Scotland) Bill in private.


4. Scotland's Tourism Industry:

The Committee took evidence from—

Marc Crothall, Chief Executive Officer, Scottish Tourism Alliance;

Leon Thompson, Executive Director, UKHospitality Scotland;

David Hope-Jones, Chief Executive, South of Scotland Destination Alliance;

Gordon Watson, Chief Executive Officer, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority;

and then from—

Paul Lawrence, Chief Executive and Elin Williamson, Head of Business Growth and Inclusion, City of Edinburgh Council;

Rob Dickson, Director of Industry & Events and Cat Leaver, Director of Strategy & Competitive Intelligence , VisitScotland;

Malcolm Macleod, Assistant Chief Executive - Place, Highland Council.


5. Scotland's Tourism Industry:

The Committee considered the evidence heard earlier in the meeting and agreed to write to the Scottish Government.
