1 Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreeed to take item 6 in private.


2 Cross-Party Groups:

The Committee considered applications for recognition from 4 Cross-Party Groups, and took evidence from—

Craig Hoy, Convener of the proposed CPG on Beer and Pubs, Scottish Parliament;

and then from—

Paul Sweeney, Convener of the proposed CPG on Maritime and Shipbuilding , Scottish Parliament;

and then from—

Beatrice Wishart, Deputy-Convener of the proposed CPG on Poverty, Scottish Parliament;

and then from—

Graham Simpson, Convener of the proposed CPG on Sustainable Transport , Scottish Parliament.


3 Cross-Party Group - approval:

The Committee agreed to accord recognition to the proposed Cross-Party Groups on Beer and Pubs, Maritime and Shipbuilding, Poverty. The Committee agreed to defer its consideration of the proposed CPG on Sustainable Transport to a future meeting.


4 Subordinate legislation:

The Committee took evidence on the Scottish Local Government Elections Amendment Order 2022 from—

George Adam, Minister for Parliamentary Business, Lauchlan Hall,Senior Policy Adviser and Iain Hockenhull, Elections Bill Team Leader, Scottish Government .

Elena Whitham declared an interest that she is a serving Councillor.


5 Subordinate legislation:

George Adam (Minister for Parliamentary Business) moved—S6M-02576—That the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee Committee recommends that the Scottish Local Government Elections Amendment Order 2022 be approved.

The motion was agreed to without division
