Budget Scrutiny 2024-25
Background
Every year the Scottish Government plans how it will spend money by creating a budget. The Social Justice and Social Security Committee are responsible for examining the impact of the budget on social justice and social security issues in Scotland.
Key issues include:
- poverty reduction (including child poverty)
- work to reduce homelessness
- the delivery of Scottish Social Security benefits
- support for the third sector
Each year, the Committee looks at how the Scottish Government has spent money and the impact of that spending. The Committee also considers where the Government needs to spend money in the future.
