The Committee took evidence on the Bill at Stage 1 from—

Polly Jones, Head of Scotland, The Trussell Trust; Pete Ritchie, Director, Nourish Scotland; Tilly Robinson-Miles, Impact and Policy Officer, Food Train; and Anna Taylor, Executive Director, The Food Foundation.

and then from

John Davidson, Deputy Chief Executive and Strategy Director, Scotland Food & Drink; Karen Galloway, Head of Retail and Insights, Seafood Scotland; Jonnie Hall, Director of Policy, National Farmers Union Scotland; and Claire White, Manager, Shetland Food & Drink Limited.


2 Subordinate legislation:

The Committee considered the laying procedure for the Official Controls (Transitional Staging Period) (Miscellaneous Amendments) (Scotland) (No. 3) Regulations 2021 (SSI 2021/493) and agreed that the negative procedure was appropriate.




3 Subordinate legislation:

The Committee considered the following negative instruments—

Red Rocks and Longay Urgent Marine Conservation (No. 2) Order 2021 (SSI 2021/463);
Conservation of Salmon (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2021 (SSI 2021/466); and
Official Controls (Transitional Staging Period) (Miscellaneous Amendments) (Scotland) (No. 3) Regulations 2021 (SSI 2021/493).

The Committee agreed to make no recommendations in relation to the instruments. The Committee also agreed to write to the Scottish Government seeking further information on a number of points.
