Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee
Fuel Poverty Strategy
Letter from Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport, 9 November 2021
Dear Convener,
I am writing to advise the Committee that the draft of the proposed final Fuel Poverty Strategy will be laid in the Scottish Parliament on 9 November.
Work on the development of the final fuel poverty strategy resumed earlier this year following the pause in March 2020 due to the reprioritisation of resources to support the government wide efforts on tackling the pandemic.
As set out in Section 7 of the Fuel Poverty (Targets, Definition and Strategy) (Scotland) Act 2019, the proposed final Fuel Poverty Strategy has to be laid before Parliament for a period of 40 days in order to allow Parliament to consider the Strategy before it is finalised and published. Subject to the outcome of Parliament’s consideration of the proposed fuel poverty strategy, it is my intention that the Fuel Poverty Strategy will be published in late December 2021.
Your sincerely
Michael Matheson
