Draft OECD report

Letter to the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills

Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP
Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills
Scottish Government

4 March 2022

Dear Cabinet Secretary,

At its meeting on 2 March 2022, the Education, Children and Young People Committee agreed to write to you in relation to the draft OECD report on Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence, along with the Scottish Government’s response to the draft report.

We note that, on Thursday 24th February 2022, Oliver Mundell put a question on this in the Chamber to the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills. The answer to that indicated that you applied exemptions to this publication. I ask you to provide further detail on the rationale of the Scottish Government’s response to the request to release the draft report and any response to the report.

We also note that the OECD gave evidence to the Committee at its meeting on 8 September 2021 and was questioned on this issue.

I would be grateful to receive a response to this letter by close of business on 7 March to allow the Committee to consider that response at its meeting on 9 March.

Yours sincerely,
Stephen Kerr MSP
Convener
