PE1865/HHH - Suspend all surgical mesh and fixation devices

It is 7 years since Elaine and Olive raised the question about Polypropylene Mesh in Parliament and here we are once again…why?

Back in 2003 I was advised by gynaecologist to have this quick fix operation for prolapse with never a word of warning about the side effects.

I have not had it removed as there was no Doctor in Scotland capable of doing so.

I am now so disabled because of it I can only walk short distances with a walking frame and require wheelchair at certain times. I live with constant pain.

Attitude from some of the medical profession leaves a lot to desired. I have been told I was scaremongering and causing no end of bother by suggesting that there was any problem with mesh, told it was all in my head, there was nothing wrong with me but sciatica, (MRI scan showed no signs of sciatica) and recently told I would have to learn to live with the pain.

I write in the hope that mesh implants will be banned forever so as no other man or woman will have to suffer in the future.
