Jennifer Snowden submission of 26 July 2021

PE1865/WW - Suspend all surgical mesh and fixation devices

I was injured by TOT pelvic mesh at only 34 years old. I’ve undergone 18 surgeries and nerve procedures in the last 2 1/2 years due to what this mesh has done to me.

Informed consent was not whole, because had I known that any of this could happen, I never would have let them put this in me just because I had a little bit of incontinence.

I’m now prescribed multiple pain medications and have to undergo invasive procedures every three months that only help the pain for a time before I have to spend thousands more for my next procedure.

It has hurt me financially, physically, mentally, and in my relationships. I live with debilitating pain and struggle daily to take care of basic responsibilities, when only a few years ago, I was traveling and hiking and starting my own business and hopeful about my future.

No one should have to live like this because of a defective medical device, so I urge you to protect your citizens and ban the use of all surgical mesh. Choose your people over lobbyists and corporate money. I wish my country would do the same, and I will not be silent until it does.

Thank you for your consideration.
