Moveable Transactions (Scotland) Bill

The Bill aims to change the law in relation to two areas of moveable property:

  • Assignation of claims – the transfer of a claim from one person to another
  • Pledges – a type of security (usually for a loan)

The Bill was passed on 04 May 2023 and became an Act on 13 June 2023

Stage 3 - Final changes and vote

MSPs can propose further “amendments” (changes) to the Bill. MSPs decide on each of these. Finally, they debate and vote on whether to pass the Bill.
