The Bill aims to address the challenges that threaten the wellbeing of both current and future generations. A key issue is the need to meet climate change targets. The Policy Memorandum notes progress that has been made, but states that “much more needs to be done to embed sustainable development and wellbeing as primary considerations in public policymaking to accelerate this progress and ensure that Scotland achieves its climate change targets”.
