Official Report Meeting date: 3 June 2004

Plenary, 03 Jun 2004

I know that the bill is not perfect—indeed, no one expects a bill to be perfect at this stage—but I believe that the Justice 1 Committee has made a major contribution to its overall consideration. In addressing Cathy Jamieson's motion, I almost find it hard to believe that the day has come that a Labour Government at Westminster has made it a priority in its legislative programme to give same-sex couples equality under the law.
Official Report Meeting date: 26 May 2004

Education Committee, 26 May 2004

PPP projects have generated huge new investment in Scottish schools and lots of good things are happening throughout Scotland. Beyond that, other investment programmes are being released, through prudential borrowing regimes and relaxing capital rules, and more capital funding is being brought into local authorities.

Resolved, That the Parliament notes the current Holyrood Inquiry being conducted by The Rt Hon The Lord Fraser of Carmyllie QC as instigated by the First Minister and the Presiding Officer; encourages all those with an interest in the Inquiry to provide Lord Fraser with all required documentation and material and strongly encourages both the Inquiry and the BBC to arrive at a mutually acceptable resolution to the ongoing issue surrounding the availability of information from tapes of the Wark Clements Productions' programme...
Official Report Meeting date: 9 September 2003

Procedures Committee, 09 Sep 2003

Although I understand that it is computer driven, I am slightly dubious about signing up to a proposal when I do not have the specifics. How does the programme work? If someone submits their name more often, does that give them a greater chance of being selected?

That boosted morale in the area.I am pleased to say that successive ministers with responsibility for transport have helped steadily to advance the Executive's programme. Survey work on the river was undertaken in 2000 and construction of the new eastern relief road at Kincardine is about to begin this year.
Official Report Meeting date: 14 November 2002

Plenary, 14 Nov 2002

Resolved, That the Parliament acknowledges that all sectors of the criminal justice system must be managed effectively to ensure the even delivery of services across Scotland, welcomes the commitment of the Scottish Executive to systematic reappraisal of the way in which justice is delivered, building on the system's strengths but also addressing the need for improvement; supports the major programme of modernisation, investment and review being undertaken by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service; awaits with interest the outcome of the major reviews of the criminal justice system currently being conducted by Lord Bonomy and Sheriff Principal McInnes and the work on integration of the system's objectives being undertaken by the Crown Agent, Andrew Normand, and agrees that these reviews should inform proposals for the further improvement and modernisation of the criminal justice system to ensure that justice in Scotland is delivered in a fair, effective and appropriate manner.
Official Report Meeting date: 31 October 2002

I know that the Scottish Executive has allocated resources to help to work up the project options and I am aware that the Strategic Rail Authority has included the project in its list of important projects and that Network Rail has started a two-year programme of signalling renewals in the area to improve reliability.
Official Report Meeting date: 10 October 2002

Plenary, 10 Oct 2002

We acknowledged that many of the health issues did not fall directly within the remit of the Transport and the Environment Committee and that the heavy work programme of the Health and Community Care Committee had perhaps militated against its taking action on some of the issues.Progress still needs to be made on a number of the issues that arose from our r...
Official Report Meeting date: 19 June 2002

Plenary, 19 Jun 2002

All we have had is talk and talk and talk, but not one new rail line has been laid and not one penny has been committed—despite the fact that the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive has now had to commit £500,000 to the programme. It would surely be a symbol of this Parliament's development if, before the end of its first session, it signed the contra...

We also have a focused marketing programme and will maintain a positive and constructive working relationship with the Meat and Livestock Commission to ensure that we continue to benefit from its technical expertise and research.I have some comments to make on the petition.
