As it stands, a person can make a gift to another in the anticipation that they are going to die, but if they do not die, the gift can be returned to them.
As we have heard, more than half the people with that neurological condition die within 14 months of diagnosis. I cannot imagine how cruel and shocking that diagnosis must feel.

It is not therefore possible to estimate how many deaths of persons domiciled in Scotland who die abroad each year will result in additional fatal accident inquiries, though numbers are expected to be very low.
Otherwise, we will see that industry die before our very eyes. I am grateful to Fergus Ewing for the intervention, because I know that he is a huge advocate for the north-east’s oil and gas sector, as are the Scottish Conservatives.
Around 60 per cent of people who are diagnosed with a high-grade brain tumour will die within one year and only 19 per cent will survive for five years or more.
They have been more likely to get seriously ill, more likely to be hospitalised and, sadly, more likely to die from Covid. They have also been the hardest hit socially, educationally and economically by the restrictions that were brought in to control the spread of the virus.
