The startling figures on childhood obesity and the child health surveillance programme's prediction that as many as 50 per cent of our children could be obese by 2020 suggest that much more needs to be done, and soon.
Of course, a number of operational and procedural issues would follow on from that and—in consultation with Scott Martin—I have done my best to lodge a bill that deals with those issues adequately.
