There was no consultation with local communities on the variation of that bus service and no assessment of what the communities need in the way of bus services. I am glad to say that following a successful campaign and a positive response from the bus operator—which I shall not name—we have returned the service.

As I understand it, in the new package there will be a replacement scheme through Highlands and Islands Enterprise. I would like to follow on from Alasdair Morgan's point about the un-level playing field, a point that was echoed by the industry representatives.
