Official Report Meeting date: 22 June 2005

Environment and Rural Development Committee, 22 Jun 2005

As British Waterways is a cross-border public body, it is subject to the UK Freedom of Information Act 2000. I have a follow-up question on that. I have read the submissions on the subject and understand the concerns of the people who made those submissions.
Official Report Meeting date: 14 June 2005

Enterprise and Culture Committee, 14 Jun 2005

That is a controversial point of view, but if it were true, this question would follow: how is that trust to be gained?
Official Report Meeting date: 21 April 2005

Plenary, 21 Apr 2005

The industry should be encouraged to source more from Scotland and to locate more bottling and capacity here, so that the whisky leaves Scotland with maximum added value, delivered by Scottish hands and integrity and diluted, where it must be, by Scottish water. I follow the drift of the member's argument.
Official Report Meeting date: 3 March 2005

Plenary, 03 Mar 2005

It is against that encouraging backdrop that I make the following observations. Where we have such a reservoir of good will, commitment and community public-spiritedness as we find among those who work with our scouts, the Scottish Executive's providing some help would be a gilt-edged investment: the Scottish Executive would be adding to a proven investment...
Official Report Meeting date: 10 February 2005

Plenary, 10 Feb 2005

If the proposed new service in my area gets off the ground later this year, I hope that other parts of Scotland that currently have no scheme for helping patients to deal with cancer will soon follow suit. For that to happen, the Executive and the Westminster Government will clearly need to facilitate matters in the way that the motion suggests.
Official Report Meeting date: 2 February 2005

Public Petitions Committee, 02 Feb 2005

Five months on, given that the issues that we are discussing have been well aired, we should ask whether that is still the position and, if so, why. Are members happy for us to follow that course of action? I have a suggestion to add on the back of Jackie Baillie's comments about asking what other arrangements have been considered.
Official Report Meeting date: 22 December 2004

Plenary, 22 Dec 2004

It might not be proceeded against in every instance following the passing of the bill, but the legislation will be there for the fiscal to use and the sheriff to implement if they so desire. As I said, the bill is part of the process of sending the simple message that we are not prepared to accept such behaviour.
Official Report Meeting date: 15 December 2004

Environment and Rural Development Committee, 15 Dec 2004

I would like to hear what the minister has to say about them. I will follow up Karen Gillon's remarks. Subsection (4)(a)(ii) of the new section that amendment 68 seeks to insert refers to "the current state of technical knowledge".Can the minister assure us that there will be active research into what is available so that we do not just rely on what has alw...
Official Report Meeting date: 6 October 2004

Plenary, 06 Oct 2004

Jack McConnell's whole approach to the crisis in the health service appears to be to change the face at the top, rather than to change the policy that is doing all the damage to our health service. If we follow the First Minister's flawed logic, it raises a host of questions about the rest of his Executive.
Official Report Meeting date: 4 March 2004

Plenary, 04 Mar 2004

There is no doubt that the Executive has set its sights on improving the judicial system in Scotland, and several other important measures will follow this one.Like Nicola Sturgeon and others, I thank all those who worked extremely hard on the bill, including the bill team.
