Alastair Nairn from the Scottish Tenant Farmers' Association (STFA) noted that the tenanted sector is moving from long term to short term tenancies and that this can have an impact on a tenant farmer's willingness and ability to invest the time and resources into climate change mitigation activity. He said— If someone has a 10-year lease, they will probably put on their soil the nutrients that they need to get them to year 8.
