I have considered the possible venues—Glasgow is easier than Edinburgh for more than half the members of the committee. Of the members who are not as assisted by Glasgow, the city is a neutral venue, in terms of travel time, for at least two or three.

The Commission has decided to introduce the new European standards for building materials and for tests of those materials by having a rolling programme. It has also reduced the time that we have in which to adopt those standards before we are threatened with proceedings.
