The Woolworths case (2015)
How the number of affected employees should be counted when a business is spread over multiple geographical locations was the subject of litigation in a case usually known as the Woolworths case (2015).1 Usdaw and another v WW Realisation 1 Ltd (in liquidation) and others [2015] IRLR 577 ECJ. (2015).
This is usually provided by telephone but can also be face to face.
In the case of Cadder v HMA ([2010] UKSC 43), it was held that the lack of access to advice from a solicitor in these circumstances was a breach of the right to a fair trial under the European Convention on Human Rights.
