Public Petitions Committee, 19 Jan 2005

The petition calls on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to ensure that Ian Steel receives a suitable award and public recognition. In 1952 Ian Steel, a Scottish cyclist who had never raced professionally outside the United Kingdom, won the Warsaw-Berlin-Prague peace race and subsequently enjoyed a series of victories in British races.
