To ask the Scottish Executive what its policy is on the circumstances under which primary schools should lose a teacher following a decrease in the school roll; whether such reductions in teacher complement should not take effect over a period of one year but over a longer period, and what guidance it will give to local authorities on this matter.
National Galleries of Scotland has reviewed its pay systems, a pay remit for the organisation has been agreed by Scottish ministers and, following negotiation between National Galleries of Scotland and the trade unions, a three-year pay offer has been accepted by staff.
In addition, a review of the Scottish Executive's pay system will be undertaken in the autumn with a view to identifying whether there are any gender pay gaps or other inequalities. Following the review, which is expected to be completed by April 2003, the Scottish Executive will publish a specific policy on equal pay.
The Commission is currently in the process of reviewing the applications, but in the meantime, following a review of treatment in these areas, it has been decided to enhance the sewerage treatment facilities.
