To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S2W-24893 by Nicol Stephen on 2 May 2006, what percentage of applications from religious and charitable organisations for grant assistance from the Scottish Community and Householders Renewables Initiative have been successful.
The business start-up grant forthose aged 18 to 30 is only one form of financial assistance which can beaccessed by individuals looking to set up in business.
The aim of the ScottishCommunity and Householder Renewables Initiative (SCHRI) is to assist thedevelopment of new community and householder renewable energy schemes in Scotland.

The Scottish Executive provided£75,000 over 2005-07 to the Scottish Network for Families Affected by Drugs (SNFAD).The funding is used to run a national telephone line to support families affectedby drug misuse and to assist community based groups which providesupport to families of drug addicts.
Under the European Unionstate aid rules, “aid of a social character” cannot be combined with othertypes of aid or assistance. Trips cannot, therefore, be part funded both by theNational Health Service (NHS) and by “aid of a social character”.
The Scotland-wide Free Bus Scheme for Older and Disabled People will provide free travel for companions where assistance is required to travel. The eligibility criteria for companions will be set out in the draft order for The National Bus Travel Concession Scheme for Older and Disabled People (Eligible Persons and Eligible Services)(Scotland) Order 2006.
