As you have noted the Deer Working Group made a recommendation intended to expand the rights of tenants. As set out in the policy memorandum to the Bill, the Scottish Government carefully considered the recommendation to expand occupiers’ rights to shoot deer and concluded that the current statutory provisions under the Deer (Scotland) Act 1996 strike an appropriate balance.
