Supported by: Bob Doris*, Colin Beattie*, Joan McAlpine*, Ash Denham*, Sandra White*, Bill Kidd*, Richard Lyle* *S5M-09407 Monica Lennon: RBS Bank Closures in the Central Scotland Region That the — Parliament condemns the RBS plan to close 62 branches across Scotland, including six branches in the Central Scotland region at Hamilton Cadzow Street, Larkhall, Airdrie, Bellshill, Tannochside and Stepps; believes that these closures will have a negative knock-on effect on communities, a devastating impact on the bank workers who are set to lose their jobs and will be detrimental to businesses; recognises that older people, people in ill health or who cannot afford to travel further afield to do their banking will be disproportionately affected by these closures; believes that the impact of the closure will be unacceptable for people in the Central Scotland region and across Scotland, and urges RBS to engage fully with trades unions, staff, customers, communities and elected representatives and halt the plan.
