That situation forced a look at the provisions, to the extent that they actually go over and above what is provided by our legislation. When the code of conduct for police staff and officers was drafted, an attractive provision was its mention of whistleblowing—that offered reassurance, as the organisation had no whistleblowing policy at the time.
