Might I come back on a small point? Section 62(7) says:"The sheriff may, on cause shown, hear an appeal after the deadline set by subsection (1) … or, as the case may be, (6)."
The first item of business is a debate on motion S1M-1958, in the name of Roseanna Cunningham, on justice, and one amendment to that motion. Members may remember that, on 1 May, we had a debate on crime.
If they have not involved the police, that suggests that the matter may not be so serious. If they have involved the police, there may be a bail requirement that means that the person should not approach the person who has suffered the violence.
