First, I am not in a position to predict what future legislative programmes might contain. However, I am in a position to comment on the review of freshwater fisheries, which, as you said, examines all freshwater species and therefore takes a more holistic approach and a longer-term view than it is the purpose of the bill to take.

If the minister and Mr Purvis regard the Taylor HMIC report as an inquiry, they should note that paragraph 9.9 of that report says:"The experts were not asked to explain why in their view SCRO experts were mistaken … They were asked to assist HMIC in the inspection process and not to undertake an enquiry."
