Contracts are in place to provide a simultaneous interpretation of languages other than English when they are used in formal business in the chamber and committees and to assist the public information office's work in support of the Parliament.
To ask the Scottish Executive how many extra jobs will be (a) created and (b) sustained if areas of Inverness are excluded from the assisted area status map and what its estimate is of the impact on the economy if these areas are excluded from the map.

To ask the Scottish Executive what measures are being taken to assist local authorities and owner-occupiers to tackle disrepair of older tenement properties.
I am not aware that any financial assistance has been offered to companies by the French government, for the reason suggested, but if Fergus Ewing has any relevant information I would be glad to consider it.
Convener's Report Agenda item 7 is my regular report to the committee.The first item is a letter to Jim Wallace from the Deputy Minister for Finance and Public Service Reform, George Lyon, on the JESSICA and JEREMIE—joint European support for sustainable investment in city areas and joint European resources for micro to medium enterprises—European Union programmes. The minister promised a letter during our chamber debate on the European Commission's work programme a while ago.
The first item on the agenda is the child protection reform programme. Does anyone have comments on the letter that we have received from the Deputy Minister for Education and Young People updating us on the programme?
