Supported by: David Torrance*, Stuart McMillan*, Sandra White*, Rona Mackay*, Richard Lyle*, Bob Doris*, Bill Kidd* *S5M-16212 Shona Robison: Dundee, Living Wage City That the Parliament welcomes the — s first Living Wage City; understands that the three-year plan to recognise Dundee as the UK’ Making Dundee a Living Wage City Action Plan aims to double the number of workers in the city earning at least the real Living Wage, which is currently set at £9 per hour; commends Dundee on, it understands, being the first city in the UK to establish a plan to dramatically increase the number of workers being paid this; welcomes the formation of a coalition between Dundee City Council, Dundee Voluntary Action, DC Thomson, Dundee and Angus College, Xplore Dundee, Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce and others with a view to taking the plan forward; notes that there are already 50 accredited Living Wage employers in Dundee, which account for around one quarter of the city's workforce; acknowledges what it sees as the benefits to businesses of paying at least the real Living Wage, such as higher staff retention, a more valued and motivated workforce, as well as a stronger local economy through the spending of an increased income; believes that the Living Wage offers a multitude of benefits, and, in light of this, encourages more firms in Dundee and across Scotland to become Living Wage employers.
