In addition, there are a number of details that would need to be clarified prior to any visit, including patient selection, pre-op assessment and imaging, after-care and follow-up, time period, terms and conditions, remuneration, and so on.

We recognise that living in an underheated home can have potential negative impacts on health, particularly for the elderly and people with pre-existing underlying conditions. That is a key reason why the Fuel Poverty (Target, Definition and Strategy) (Scotland) Bill sets such an ambitious target to bring down fuel poverty.

Social Security Scotland’s current headcount is 263, with a full-time equivalent headcount of 258.5. Subject to pre-employment checks for 15 new recruits, Social Security Scotland’s headcount is expected to be 278 by the end of the 2018 calendar year.
The initial estimate of at least 1,500 jobs associated with the chosen model, as referred to in my statement to Parliament on 27 April 2017, does not include staff administering assessments nor does it include additional staff who will provide pre-claims support locally. Estimated staff numbers will be refined as we move into detailed service design.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is now engaging with the local communities, staff and other stakeholders so they can carefully consider their views. It is important not to pre-judge this, as the proposals may change or not be pursued at all, as a result.
