The important point is that in occupations in financial services, for example, it is important for a prospective employer to know about a previous conviction, albeit beyond the time by which in other circumstances the conviction would become spent. The person might still get the job, but the conviction would have to be disclosed.

However, anyone who has been to Loch Katrine, for example, where the water for the treatment project comes from, will see that the water is as clean as it gets. I would not hesitate to drink straight from the loch, yet here we are about to spend £100 million in a bid to make it even cleaner.
