That, again, is why the code is so important.The committee wants to take evidence from stakeholders on the draft code of practice before the final version is laid before the Parliament.
As I think we have said in previous evidence, it is time to look at the MSPs’ code of conduct and the ministerial code in this context, because I do not think that they have been reviewed for a while.
In accordance with section 3 of the code of conduct, I invite him to declare any interests that are relevant to the committee’s remit, and remind him that any declaration should be brief, but sufficiently detailed to make clear to any listener the nature of the interest.
Does the committee agree to report that it is content in principle with the power to issue codes of practice set out in section 20A and that the codes are required to be laid before the Parliament but are not subject to any further parliamentary procedure?
