The way round that problem is to get a bid in early—to get the order for a reporter in well in advance—and to go and see the unit and speak to the head of the unit to identify the programme for the project and to agree that the unit will deliver the appropriate level of resource to accommodate that.

The feedback from people who are involved in the many drug referral programmes that are going on in police stations across Scotland is that they are enabling the hard-to-reach groups, who would never voluntarily step into a drug rehabilitation programme, to be hooked in some way and drawn in.
