Supported by: Douglas Ross*, Bill Kidd*, Jackie Baillie* *S5M-00525 Stuart McMillan: Small Wind Co-op Launches Community Energy Funding Drive for Inverclyde That the Parliament notes that the Small Wind Co-op is seeking to raise — £1.4 million to build two 100kW community-owned farm-scale wind projects in Scotland; notes that this is a community investment opportunity inviting people to support two small farm wind turbines at Kellybank Farm in Wemyss Bay, Inverclyde, which is being launched on 20 June 2016 at Kip Marina in Inverclyde; recognises that the Kellybank site is just above the town of Wemyss Bay, which sits east of the Clyde estuary, where the winds blow in from the islands to the west and that the community fund from the Kellybank turbines will be targeted to support initiatives that improve employment prospects and grow a sense of community in the area; understands that the aim is to use turbine funds to support community trusts that are already helping people in the area and will allow people to use the energy generated in their own home or business, and considers that this initiative will help people to directly support renewable energy in Scotland.
