What dialogue will the Executive engage in with the relevant professional bodies to ensure that they actively support initiatives such as the 50 per cent increase in the remote areas allowance and play a key role in encouraging dentists to provide services in rural areas, including NHS dentistry?

One of the points that our witnesses could not confirm for us was the extent to which the Scottish Executive or the Foreign and Commonwealth Office would support the local authorities and Tayside police in meeting the financial consequentials of additional security activities. That is my understanding, but it needs to be corroborated that some new bodies have not had codes applied to their activities. Could the Executive clarify that all new bodies that are set up—agencies, quangos and all the rest of it—are to have the ethical standards code applied to them?
