The Scottish Government is funding an initiative on patient pathways and referral criteria as part of the process of developing an access target for Psychological Therapies. This work will be co-ordinated within the Psychological Interventions Team - to be hosted within NHS Education for Scotland.

There is already international co-operation with regard to missing children and the National Missing Persons Bureau is working with Interpol and Europol to create a co-ordinated network of child rescue alert systems.

The proposal willnot remove or change individual regulations but will reduce the administrativeburden on customers by co-ordinating inspection visits and moving therequirement to identify which organisation(s) to consult or ask for guidanceaway from the customer and into the service.
Networking cannot be done for free and on the hoof. There must be a co-ordinated effort.Another issue that has been raised with me is the lack of ability to co-ordinate activity in the eastern end of the network.
