There is a range of activityunderway to improve provision for treatment and support for children and young peoplewith mental health problems.The Scottish Executive has consulted on a draft framework for children and young people’s mentalhealth promotion, prevention and care to assist local health, education and socialwork services in delivering integrated approaches to children and young people's mental health.The final guidance will issued around October 2005.Recommendations on psychiatricin-patient services for children and young people in Scotland were published byour expert advisory Child Health Support Group in December 2004 and work is underwayat a regional level to take the recommendations forward.Choose Life, our national suicideprevention programme, is raising awareness of positive mental health, wellbeingand suicide with young people and their carers in a variety of settings.The Scottish Executive has made £1 million available in 2004-05 and 2005-06to support Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) workforce development anda CAMHS Workforce Group has been established to take forward integrated workforceplanning and development.The Scottish Executive has established HeadsUpScotland to contribute to the range of activity underwaywith a particular focus on involving children and young people.
