As we have a new minister and as a decision may be imminent, I would like the petition and all the responses that have been received to be forwarded to the minister for her consideration.
The matter would then be referred to the full Parliament. If members wish, they may lodge a motion to annul. I do not feel that we should take that approach in this case.

What is the total cost of the acceleration measures? Is it possible that that money may be wasted and that the project may not be completed until 2004?
I am extremely concerned that panic would be created in some areas if registrars who may not be necessary in the short term were put in place—although they may be necessary in the longer term.
