To ask the Scottish Executive what steps it is taking to ensure that initial and on-going teacher training equips teachers to assist in the early identification of a wide range of special needs, including dyslexia.

I think that Richard Lochhead and I are agreed about the need for it to be geared to our needs, but my fear is that I have 4.5 per cent to assist with the funding of the current programme and, if we lose that battle completely, that money will fall.
However,given that there are some encouraging signs in relation to cod recovery, myobjective will be to assist fish processors and others by resisting closurewhile pressing on with the cod recovery programme.
