Research report on the impact of the UKs exit from membership of the EU on law enforcement and judic

Although the UK was a late adopter of Prüm - the decision to do so was delayed by the 2016 ‘opt in/ opt out’ decisions and by the technical and financial cost of installing systems to support the 22 automated exchange of such data - this mechanism was described as very important, particularly in counter terrorist investigations. Following delays in implementation, the UK was only able, pre-Brexit, to exchange DNA data between June 2019 until December 2020 and fingerprint data between August and December 2020; the UK never put in place the cooperation system for vehicle registration data.
