It is not required for the majority of employers who take their responsibilities seriously, but the current position is that, if I go to the care commission or SWIA and say that an employer is ignoring the code, is not supervising their staff properly and is not training them properly, those bodies do not have the right or ability to do anything about that.We have had good informal liaison, and the care commission does thematic inspections in relation to the code, but that is not the same as employers being absolutely clear about it in the way that registered workers are.
