That is a little misleading. It basically focuses on employees only. Some things have been going on in the primary sector, such as farmers including wives as formal employees in that industry, which tends to make the sector look larger than it is.
I will deal first with the one that is perhaps more straightforward—whether employees should be on the board. Mary Scanlon makes a good point about the way in which employees can strengthen a board of trustees; over time, a lot of people have argued for that.
It must fully take on board the concerns of its employees and ex-employees and ensure that those people receive the money they are morally entitled to.
Any income that is generated is paid out on a freelance basis to the players who take part in the programme because, when the programme was set up, it was not part of the core work of the orchestra.
