The Committee requests that the Scottish Government provide an update on the work of the minimum income guarantee steering group and progress towards implementing a minimum income guarantee to address existing gaps in the social security system that may be hampering progress in tackling health inequalities.
The Committee is clear in its view that this is because of the impact poverty has on family relationships, because their parents are anxious and stressed or they are unable to feel safe and secure. They may also experience stigma and shame from living in poverty.
