The Children (Scotland) Bill - Background
Today, some unmarried fathers and their children are still subject to the pre-2006 law.
The Barnes Macfarlane report says that the current law may raise issues for an unmarried father under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which covers the right to respect for private and family life.
